Ep. 5: A Modern Twist on a Mid-Century Split-Level Home

Tucked away in the charming Varsity neighbourhood, this mid-century gem has undergone a remarkable transformation by Studio North. Welcome to Boho House—a residence that seamlessly blends warmth, functionality, and inspiration into a haven for a modern family. One of the house's distinctive features is its split-level layout, an iconic characteristic of homes from this era. The typology's latent qualities and historical references served as a foundation for the transformation. Using a harmonious blend of nostalgia and innovation, this 1960s era home finds a fresh resurgence through Studio North's approach, as they seamlessly integrate retro materials and design elements into a contemporary context. Rattan screens and playful geometric cues pay homage to the past while adding new dimensions to the home's character. The design choices extend to the furniture selection, which echoes the same balance between eccentricity and comfort. Textured elements offer playful nods to uniqueness, all while harmoniously fitting into the warm and inviting palette that defines the Boho House.
