Ep. 10: How an Interior Designer Transformed a Rental Into a Unique Mid-Century English Home

Returning to Calgary from a life in Toronto and unsure which neighbourhood they'd like to settle in, Laura Collins and her family embraced the opportunity to transform a rental property into a vibrant and functional living space. The design vision centered on creating a playful and interesting atmosphere, blending the inherent elements of mid-century modern with the cozy elements of an English cottage. Laura used bold colour to marry the two styles. Short of demoing walls and an expensive renovation, the transformation extends to every corner of the home. Paint, custom upholstered cushions on built-in benches, bespoke lampshades, and carefully selected trims and finishes contribute to a reinvented space without breaking the bank.
